2011 Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival Part 1: Some mobile images of folks at the folk festival.
Ever since I first heard about the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival around the time they first started I always wanted to go and celebrate the music and life of one of my favorite artists. Although it was much more a spectacle than I expected (and certainly more diverse than just a folk festival), I feel blessed to have gone. It’s still a family event put together with a lot of heart and passion. It is probably the kindest and friendliest festival I have ever been. What’s a Filipino-American family from LA doing in the middle of a rural campground deep in the heart of Northern California wine country with a bunch of folkies and neo-hippies anyways? Well, we felt welcomed and at home. We missed fellow Angelinos Los Lobos perform because we were on a 2 year old’s schedule, but we heard some great music and met some gentle souls. I already miss the smiles, the tie-dyes, the kale salads, the vegan ice cream, the shade of a friendly tree and the spirit of the great Kate Wolf.
Hope to come again someday.
